According to a recent post by Team Pachedu, Justice Chigumba claimed that there are almost 6 million people on the voters’ roll. However, their investigations suggest that this may not be the case. The delimitation roll, which was published in January 2022, reportedly had 5.8 million voters. This number was increased by 451,811 during a voter registration blitz that took place in mid-2022.

Furthermore, thousands more individuals reportedly registered to vote between June 2022 and February 2023. Based on these figures, Team Pachedu believes that the actual number of registered voters in the country should be around 6.3 million, and not the 6 million claimed by Justice Chigumba.

This revelation has raised concerns about the transparency and accuracy of Zimbabwe’s electoral processes. It is vital that accurate figures are used to ensure that elections are free and fair, and that the will of the people is accurately reflected.

Team Pachedu has called on the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to clarify the actual number of registered voters in the country and ensure that all future elections are conducted transparently and with the utmost integrity. The public also needs to be assured that the commission can be trusted to conduct free and fair elections, especially with the upcoming elections scheduled for next year.

Attempts to contact Justice Chigumba or the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission for comment on this matter were unsuccessful. However, the public expects answers, and the commission must take steps to ensure that the electoral processes in Zimbabwe are transparent and reliable.
