HARARE , Renowned Bulawayo surgeon Dr Kelvin Tendai Kaseke has died at the age of 44. Dr Kaseke passed away at Avenues Clinic in Harare, where he was seeking medical treatment after developing an illness. The Acting Clinical Director of United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH), Dr Harrison Rambanapasi, confirmed his passing, stating that the medical fraternity had lost a senior and well-versed surgeon.

According to Dr Rambanapasi, Dr Kaseke fell ill about two weeks ago and had to seek treatment. While he was at the clinic, he developed an emergency where he was bleeding in the head. Dr Kaseke was also suffering from hypertension, which likely contributed to his condition. Despite receiving treatment, he failed to respond and eventually succumbed to the illness.

Dr Kaseke held one of the highest offices in the history of Zimbabwe’s medical history, and his loss has been felt deeply by his colleagues. Dr Rambanapasi, who worked closely with Dr Kaseke, described him as a brilliant surgeon and a loving and responsible man. He added that he had gained a lot of knowledge and expertise from working with him, and that he was truly gutted by his death.

The family has yet to announce funeral and burial proceedings, but the medical fraternity is expected to pay its respects to Dr Kaseke in the coming days. His contributions to the field of medicine in Zimbabwe will not be forgotten, and his passing is a great loss to the entire country.
