“A New Great Zimbabwe Is Loading”, Says Chamisa As CCC Turns One

The opposition Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) today, 24 January 2023, marks one year of existence.

In a Twitter post marking the party’s first anniversary, CCC leader Nelson Chamisa said they are aiming at winning a two-thirds majority in the National Assembly in elections scheduled for later this year. Said Chamisa:

IN ONE YEAR, YOU HAVE EXCELLED…Change Champions, you moved mountains. Because #Godisinit you Won 19/28 MPs, 89/149 Councillors in by-elections.

THANK YOU; … For your solidarity & support [and] For believing and supporting us against all odds. #ANewGreatZimbabwe loading

We aim to #WinBig to seal the Presidency. 2/3 in Parly, & choose both speaker of Parliament and President of Senate.

The resolution to launch CCC was made on 22 January 2022 by the party’s National Counpicil.

The resolution to abandon the MDC Alliance name came after MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora appropriated the MDC brand and all its variants.

On 24 January 2022, Chamisa made the announcement during a press conference at Bronte Hotel in Harare that they were launching the Citizens’ Coalition for Change.
